Transportation access to Ushibuka
Ushibuka-cho, Amakusa City, which can be said to be the “endmost place of Amakusa”. It takes about 3 hours from Kumamoto city by car. On the way, when you pass Amakusa Kamijima, you can use the Matsushima Ariake Road (between Aitsu Interchange and Kamitsuura Interchange) to reduce the travel time slightly.
If you want to use the Amakusa Airline, which connects Amakusa Airport (Amakusa City, Isawa-cho) with Kumamoto Airport, Fukuoka Airport, and Osaka Airport, you can rent a car around Amakusa Airport. From the airport area, it takes about one hour to Ushibuka-cho.
If you are visiting from southern Kyushu, it is convenient to go to Kuramoto Port (Nagashima-cho, Kagoshima) about 30 minutes by shuttle bus from Izumi Station, Kyushu Shinkansen (Izumi City, Kagoshima Prefecture) and cross the port to Ushibuka Port by ferry from Kuranomoto Port.
